Where can I find stock charts and other useful information for specific companies (Dupont…) ?

June 8, 2010 - 5:55 am 1 Comment

I would need a specific website with all this information. Not just Dupont but Dow Jones and Dow Chemical. Maybe some web site that has a brief history about the companies as well as the stock information… any thing helps. The person with the most links to USEFUL websites will get the points… Much obliged

Here are a few that I use:

1.yahoo finance
2.msnbc.com
3. Forbes.com
4.cnn money

How to correctly plot "waves" on stock/market charts?

June 8, 2010 - 5:55 am 3 Comments

Okay, I am extremely new to the stock market/trading thing, but there is a lot I am very confused about when it comes to basic Technical Analysis. For example, I understand the concept of the Elliot Wave Theory, however, how does one correctly identify/plot a "wave"? Is a line from a market low to the next market high; are there special plot points; or is it just a visual educated guess?? Any help greatly appreciated :-)

Elliott Wave is very much an educated Guess. It isn’t like most other TA as you have to search for the signal.

Try looking at 60min charts, find a low and a high (or visa versa) and see if you can see 5 waves before the market turns in a different direction. Always remember the 3rd wave needs to be the longest. As for the person that said mumbo jumbo TA, TA is a very useful tool and believe me it does work.

how do I get new yahoo stock charts to load?

June 8, 2010 - 5:50 am 1 Comment

when I click on i year chart. The next screen just says loading but the chart never opens. Why?

That shouldn’t be happening, but I’ve seen it on different computers. You might check to see if a pop up is disabled, etc. (for example if new java needs to load).

Else, after rebooting and still not having success, you may need to contact Y!Finance directly to help you out.

Here’s how to get to a page to report your problem directly to Yahoo!

In Yahoo!Finance, at the top right of the page, there’s a help link. Click on that to get your here

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/finance/

Then click on one of the links on the left like quote basics. Here’s that page:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/finance/quotes/quote-01.html/

Finally, at the bottom is the contact customer care button. Yes, it’s convoluted, but that’s one way to get there!

Oh, or just click here (if it works). (hard for me to test if it works since I clicked through to get there)

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/finance/general.html?

Once you get there and ask your question, they’re pretty good at getting back to you, but you may have to ask/answer back and forth a couple of times.

Hope that helps!

Free realtime stock charts / graphs for UK stocks?

June 8, 2010 - 5:45 am 3 Comments

Does anyone know any good website that provides free *realtime* (not delayed) stock charts that update automatically, for UK companies?

As far as I am aware, no UK source exists for real time prices that is "free", HOWEVER you CAN see real time prices via a Spread Betting account.

So open an account with eg. Finspreads etc. and make use of their prices .. just don’t place any bets :-)
